[mikoshi][matsuri]「御神輿」「祭り」 Matsuri generally means a special festival which is held by a Shinto shrine and the people in a community. A matsuri is a special occasion when Shinto gods are believed to visit people in order to communicate with them. Some carry mikoshi, miniature mobile shrines for Shinto gods, through the streets of their community.
